Bringing a puppy home is exciting and completely overwhelming, usually within the same hour. Between the sleepless nights, the toilet training and advice coming at you from every direction, it is hard to know what actually matters.
Then there is the standard puppy class. A hall full of unfamiliar puppies, off lead play, and a lot of noise and excitement that tends to leave a puppy overstimulated rather than settled.
We built The Anti Puppy Class to do the opposite. Fewer, better quality sessions, one to one, in the places you and your puppy will actually be living your lives.
What we are actually aiming for
Success is not a puppy who performs on demand. Success is a puppy who can be boring in public.
One who can sit outside a cafe while you have a coffee. Who can watch another dog go past without losing the plot. Who can settle at home when the doorbell goes. That is what makes the next fifteen years easy, and it is almost never what a group class produces
Why not a standard puppy class?
Group classes are built to fit a room full of dogs rather than your individual puppy. That usually means:
- An overstimulating environment that leaves puppies overwhelmed rather than calm
- Off lead play with unfamiliar dogs, which teaches high arousal as the default reaction to seeing another dog
- Skills practised in one room that do not transfer to the street, the vet or a busy cafe
- Owners watching from the sidelines instead of building any real skill themselves
What’s Included?
One to one, start to finish
Every session is built entirely around your puppy’s temperament, breed and personality. No shared attention, no distractions from a room full of other puppies, and nothing taught at the pace of the group.
Training in real environments
From your living room to your local high street. What your puppy learns has to work in real life, not just in a training hall, so that is where we train.
Calm, confident foundations
We help your puppy learn to settle and observe the world calmly before we build everyday skills like sit, recall and loose lead walking on top of it.
Hands on coaching for you
You do the training in every session, coached by us throughout. You finish the programme with real skills, not a puppy who only listens to the trainer.
Theory video library
Access to our video lessons covering developmental stages, fear phases, toilet training, teething and adolescence, so you know what is coming before it arrives.
A personalised take home plan
A written plan at the end, tailored to your puppy, covering what comes next and how to handle adolescence when it lands.
By the end of the programme, your puppy will be able to
- Settle calmly at home and out in the world
- Watch other dogs and people go by without needing to greet them
- Respond to their name and a core set of everyday cues
- Walk nicely on a loose lead
- Cope confidently in busy, real world places
And you will know how to read your own puppy, which is the part that keeps working long after we have finished.
Who you will be working with
I am Jazz. Ten years as a Dog Trainer in the British Army, a BSc (Hons) in Canine Behaviour Management, and recognised as a Master Professional Dog Training Instructor by the Guild of Dog Trainers.
I spend most of my time working with adult dogs whose problems started in the first six months. This programme exists so yours does not become one of them.
